The North Oregon Coast has numerous rivers and streams that get healthy returns of salmon and steelhead. Most of the rivers mentioned here are open at some if not all times of the year for hatchery or wild chinook, coho, and steelhead. We are fortunate as anglers to have the opportunity to fish such diverse watersheds. When one river is too high to fish, another is in perfect shape. When that one is too low to fish, the bigger streams are just coming in. Currently, none of these waters are open to the taking of chum salmon but the retention of cutthroat trout has been reinstated for many of the streams and rivers in this zone so check your regulation booklet if you pursue trout. In this technical report, we will cover the rivers that are most likely to put out decent catches of salmon or steelhead as well as where to access these rivers and the most popular techniques used to catch these fish.
