Originally schooled in fisheries at Humboldt State University, Jeff mixes his knowledge of salmonid life history with his specialized experience on Central Oregon Coastal rivers to give his guests the trip of a lifetime. In addition to guiding on the Central Coast, Jeff has also guided the Togiak River for Bristol Bay Lodge in Alaska. Jeff writes a weekly column appearing in the Siuslaw News (Florence, OR) on fishing, boating, river safety and natural history of the fish he pursues. When not guiding, Jeff works with the United States Forest Service on a variety of fisheries and habitat restoration projects – including managing operation of a downstream migrant (smolt) trap in the Spring and spawning fish surveys. Jeff is also an observer for the National Weather Service, is on the Water Board for the Mapleton Water District and volunteers for the Siuslaw Watershed Council.
