Portland Metro Area Salmon and Steelhead

Steelheader communications director Aaron Sewall of Portland with a nice Clackamas River steelhead from January 24th

$8.95

The local Portland area has many angling opportunities for both the boat and bank angler. This technical report will focus on the 4 metro area rivers that will give the angler the best chance for catching a salmon or steelhead. These 4 systems include the Sandy, Clackamas, Willamette and Columbia Rivers in the local metro area. All four of these rivers support catchable numbers of salmon or steelhead within a 30 minute drive of downtown Portland. This report will also mention the techniques that are employed at the mentioned locations but anglers wanting expert input on the best techniques to produce the most fish should consult tech reports 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18.
